Forcing Alt-Text (description) on "files"

When uploading an image into our instance of cascade that will be used for slideshows etc we are using new/file. Because you can't assign a Metadata Set to this, we are unable to force users to add alt-text for images or even make description field be inline. Is there something I am missing? Currently we are trying out pulling in the title as the alt-text however this is not ideal as the alt-text and title may vary.

    James,

Could you try setting up a new asset factory of type "file", and pointing it at a pre-created base asset file that you have which has the right metadata set?

It is true that the default file asset factory isn't configurable, but that's true of all of the default asset factories.

    Thanks!

Needed to create the base asset with a filename extension (.jpg) so that it would save, then move/rename and delete the extension. That make sense?
